Canoeing - May 21-23 Edisto River, SC

What: Canoe Outing on the Edisto River. After we rally at Carolina Heritage Outfitters, we’ll travel by bus to a launch site (parents can follow the bus if uncomfortable with the scout taking the bus). We’ll paddle 13 miles the first day, camp on the side of the river, and paddle 10 miles the next.
When: May 21-23, 2021. Drop your scout off between 10 and 10:15 am.  Parents should plan to pick up their scout at Carolina Heritage Outfitters at 2:30 pm on Sunday.
Where: Carolina Heritage Outfitters, 1 Livery Lane, St. George, SC 29477
Cost: $80 for each participant (this includes the canoeing fees and dinner Saturday/ breakfast Sunday).  Pay at  https://www.troop11mp.org/payment-center.html
Notes:  We have a limit of 32 paddlers. The first 32 participants to sign up and pay online will be able to go.
Participants should eat prior to arriving and bring lunch, water, and snacks (trail food for Sunday’s lunch). Scouts and adults will cook Saturday night and Sunday morning in their individual patrols.
In addition to the normal gear scouts bring on every camp out (see the personal gear check list at https://www.troop11mp.org/troop-documents.html), plan to waterproof gear since we’ll be traveling to the campsite by water. Dress for getting wet Saturday (water shoes, swim trunks, etc) and have dry clothing and shoes for camp.
***IMPORTANT*** Each participant (including adults) must have passed the swim test this year to attend this outing.  We are not testing anyone during the actual outing.  We will schedule another swim test prior to the outing.

Summer Camp - June 19-26
WHEN: Saturday June 19th to Saturday June 26th
WHERE:  Camp Woodruff,
Blairsville, GA 30512
COST:  Base price of $545 for all Scouts; some Merit Badges and High Adventure Programs have added fees.
First year scouts will do the MOUNTAINEER PROGRAM.  The Mountaineer Program is designed for those Scouts who have either just crossed over from Webelos or have limited camping experience. Basic Scout skills for the inexperienced Scout form the basis of the program.  Mountaineer is a two-hour program held every morning all week. There are two sessions every day. The remainder of the day, Scouts can work on merit badges that may interest them or participate in Troop activity periods.
Scouts are instructed in the following skill areas: woods tools, meal preparation and cooking, pioneering, knots, orienteering, nature, first aid, and outdoor citizenship. In addition, Scouts can participate in a five- mile hike.

All other scouts - BASE CAMP WOODRUFF.  Each youth participating at Woodruff has one offsite activity included in their camp fee. That offsite activity could be rafting the Nantahala or the Oconee River or Horseback Riding. Any youth that desires an additional offsite activity will pay an additional fee. High adventure programs are individually priced.
For more complete information on Camp Woodruff, see Program_Catalog_2021_080620.pdf (campwoodruff.org).
The $545 includes camp registration fees + most Merit Badges + meals throughout the week + round trip bus fare + lunch on the return trip.

PAYMENTS:  Please pay a deposit of $120 no later than January 31. The total owed must be paid by May 28 or the Scout will be dropped from registration.   Pay via PayPal at
http://troop11mp.org/Payment_Center.html.  BE SURE TO USE THE “FRIENDS & FAMILY” OPTION WHEN PAYING!
PROGRAM:  Camp options include MOUNTAINEER (for first-year Scouts), Base Camp Woodruff, and high adventure programs for older Scouts.  Learn more about the Mountaineer Program at
Mountaineer -- First Year Camper Program | Camp Woodruff | Atlanta Area Council | 92.  There are limited spots available for high adventure programs. Please contact Andy Fowles at andykfowles@yahoo.com to check on availability of High Adventure camps or for any questions regarding summer camp.
REFUNDS:  No refunds after March 31!
MERIT BADGE SELECTIONS:  Review merit badge options in the Program Guide:
Program_Catalog_2021_080620.pdf (campwoodruff.org).  Begin to plan for the merit badges and consider the prerequisites for those you would like to complete at camp. When you RSVP you will be asked for up to 8 choices in descending order.  Based on schedule availability, Scouts who are not in the Mountaineer Program can expect to take 4-6 Merit Badge classes; those who are can expect 2-4.  Remember, it is first-come, first-served in terms of entering order when the lottery opens.

ADDITIONAL MEDICAL FORM REQUIRED:  Every Scout and Adult attending camp must complete the BSA Medical Form Part C (in addition to the Parts A & B which should already have been submitted this year).  This form requires a physician’s exam and signature.  The entire form is available at http://www.scouting.org/filestore/HealthSafety/pdf/680-001_ABC.pdf.  Do not delay in getting this scheduled and completed.
We are looking forward to a momentous week at camp from Sat., June 19 to Sat., June 26.   This is a fantastic opportunity to camp, develop skills, earn Merit Badges and make friends with Scouts from across the U.S.  Join Troop 11’s 3rd year at Camp Woodruff in the North Georgia Mountains . . . be a part of this year’s fun! Please contact Andy Fowles at andykfowles@yahoo.com with any questions.
